Affluence and Sustainability: An American Paradox is the theme of the annual Honors Study Topic essay contest sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Butte College in California, and open to all members. Essayists may choose from one of three prompts or topics. Cash prizes of $300, first place; $200, second place; and $100, third place, will be awarded, to support a local project dedicated to the International Service Program, Operation Green: Improving Our Communities. Information and participation guidelines are available online. Entries must be emailed to the chapter’s Vice President of Scholarship by September 30.
