CareerFitter Scholarship Deadline

Event Date: September 14, 2008

The CareerFitter Scholarship is available to qualified students who are enrolled or planning to participate in a college, university, or graduate school program during the fall term. Students who apply must be a United States citizen or permanent resident with a minimum 2.5/4.0 GPA. Applicants for the $500 scholarship must write a short essay on their perfect career. Keep America Beautiful National Awards Deadline

Event Date: September 15, 2008

Keep America Beautiful, Phi Theta Kappa’s service program partner, is accepting applications for their National Awards program, which honors businesses, youth groups, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations for their work in litter prevention, waste reduction, beautification, and community improvement. Awards are given in several different categories. Chapters interested in applying must submit applications by September 15, 2008. For information on applying, visit the application website.

2007-2008 Relay For Life Report Forms Due

Event Date: September 15, 2008

Relay For LifeChapters that participated in a Relay For Life between September 16, 2007 and September 15, 2008 must submit their report forms to International Headquarters by September 15, 2008. Event chairs can submit their reports on-line at ptk.org/service/relayform.htm.

First 2008 Honors Seminar: Doctors Without Borders

Event Date: September 23, 2008 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm

Dr. Richard Heinzl, founder of Doctors Without Borders - Canada, will present the first installment of the 2008 Honors Satellite Seminar Series on the topic “Doctors Without Borders - North America.” The seminar will air from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Chapters ordering the videos do not need to tune in for the live broadcast.

StraightForward Media Business Scholarship Deadline

Event Date: September 30, 2008

Established in 2005, StraightForward Media’s Business School Scholarships are offered four times per year to help the business leaders of tomorrow begin their careers with cash in pocket to finance their business ventures. The $500 scholarship is open to all students who have received or are pursuing a degree in business.

2008 Regional Leadership Conference

Event Date: October 17, 2008 to October 18, 2008

The 2008 Regional Leadership Conference will be held Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18 at the campus of the Alpha Xi Theta (Gateway Community College) in North Haven, Connecticut. Details and registration information will be forthcoming. Contact Michelle Brinck with any questions.
